Tyrann Mathieu Unveils Inaugural 'Tech Zone' at Gilbert Boys & Girls Club

GILBERT, AZ (September 25, 2018) – On Tuesday afternoon,
Texans Defensive Back Tyrann Mathieu returned to Arizona to unveil his
first-ever Tyrann’s Tech Zone at the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Valley
facility in Gilbert, Arizona. Tyrann’s Tech Zones are state-of-the-art,
sports-themed technology academic centers that provide disadvantaged students
with access to STEM-based learning equipment. The newly-installed Tech Zone at
the Boys & Girls Club in Gilbert features two brand new Mac desktop
computers, photography equipment, audio recording equipment, and even musical
instruments.

Mathieu was welcomed to the Boys & Girls Club by dozens
of kids, who formed a high-five line for him as he entered. During the
unveiling ceremony, Mathieu spent some time fielding questions from the Clubs
members and emphasizing the importance of education and commitment to learning.
He also broke in the equipment alongside the youth in attendance.

Because of a lack of financial resources, many elementary
schools in low-income communities are unable to provide students with modern
technology and cutting-edge scientific equipment. As a result, the students
gain little exposure to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
fields. However, STEM fields are among the most rapidly growing careers in the
country, and thousands of young and enthusiastic minds are needed to fill these
positions. The Tech Zone unveiled by Mathieu and his Foundation team ensure
that these underserved students are granted the necessary exposure to STEM at
an early enough age to enable them to one day pursue STEM careers.

Tyrann’s Tech Zone is the featured program of the Tyrann
Mathieu Foundation. Tuesday’s launch further illustrates Mathieu’s continued
partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs, as he’s now worked with clubs in
Arizona, Texas, and his home state of Louisiana. Though he’s cemented himself
as a key part of the Houston Texans’ defense, Mathieu returned to Greater
Phoenix for this program, as it was a way to give back to the community that
strongly supported him and his Foundation while he was a member of the Arizona
Cardinals. This new Tech Zone will provide educational resources to hundreds of
lower-income students on a yearly basis.
